About

GDH Music is a creative audio company built on the idea that sound should feel honest, human, and alive.

We believe sound is more than a technical process. It’s an emotional experience, shaped by the people, the space, and the way we listen. Our role is to support that process with empathy and experience, helping artists and collaborators connect more deeply to their creativity.

Since 2010, we’ve partnered with artists, directors, producers, and brands to shape creative work in sound. Whether in the studio, on stage, or working remotely, we bring a balance of intuition, technical skill, and thoughtful direction, guided by the people and the story behind the work.

Our home base, Robertson Studios, reflects this approach. It’s a quiet, focused space that supports independent work while inviting a deeper connection to the ideas, process, and community surrounding the creative process.

Every project is different. Let’s hear about yours.

George Drabing Hicks has built a career at the intersection of live performance and studio production, blending the energy and spontaneity of concerts with the precision and depth of recorded sound.

A classically trained musician, George developed an appreciation for the transportive power of sound, leading him to explore audio engineering. After graduating with a double major in music and business, he relocated to Los Angeles to immerse himself in the industry, steadily building a reputation for technical excellence and creative sensitivity.

Over the past 15 years, George has developed a body of work spanning music, film, television, podcasts, theatre, and events. He served for six years as Head of Audio at The Theatre at Ace Hotel, engineering performances for touring artists and facilitating film premieres for major studios. As founder of GDH Music, he has spent the past four years developing a post-production and recording facility in Culver City, providing sound solutions for media and live events. Alongside his engineering work, George also produces music that explores the line between music and sound design, focusing on abstract and emotionally driven arrangements and textures.

Recent projects include sound design for the Emmy nominated animated series Common Side Effects (Adult Swim / HBO Max), serving as monitor engineer for Grammy-nominated arranger Chris Walden and the Pacific Jazz Orchestra, expanding the offerings of Robertson Studios, and developing emerging songwriters and producers.

Regardless of role or location, George remains dedicated to enhancing the creative experience for both artist and audience, ensuring every note resonates with clarity, emotion, and purpose.
